Xbox SmartGlass app for Android released

Microsoft's SmartGlass has finally launched, and the company has already pushed an Android app to the official Google Play Store.

The app requires Android 4.0 or higher, and will allow users to interact with their Xbox 360 to control video playback, navigate the interface, and search content.

While Windows Phone users will find the tightest integration of all, the Android port still lets users steer through the Dashboard, input text, browse the web (with zooming), search for local content, and control media playback. Players can still chat with their friends and modify their Xbox profile if they're not planning to lurk around the system all day. The interface is strikingly similar to past releases (including Android) and still demands at least an 800 x 480 screen for admission -- sorry, Wildfire S fans.

Here's the full list of features:

Navigate your Xbox 360 with swipe and tap
Use your phone's keyboard to type to your Xbox 360
Browse the Internet on your Xbox 360 with full keyboard and zooming
Play, pause, fast forward, rewind, and stop videos and music on your Xbox 360
Search the full Xbox catalogue of music, video, and games
Enjoy rich, interactive experiences from select game and entertainment content creators
Track and compare your achievements with your Xbox friends
Change up your 3D avatar
Message your Xbox friends
Edit your Xbox profile

You can download the Android app directly from the Google Play Store.

Forza Motorsport 4 Patch

Turn 10 has patched Forza Motorsport 4 to raise the level cap from 150 to 999, sort out a bug that caused slow menu navigation and tweaked the performance index of 38 cars.

Here's what Dan Greenawalt the creative director had to say:

"Essentially what was happening was a slow memory leak when using liveried cars and jumping between lobbies."

"The leak was only happening when players driving liveried cars would join or leave lobbies at precisely the right moment during the loading of a race. The leak occurred on all boxes even if the player didn't have a custom livery, but it was exceedingly small. As the leak got worse over the course of a player's session, it would cause the box to crash."

"This resulted in longer load times for everyone else in the lobby with that player as his crashed box timed-out. Unfortunately, the problem was made worse when players would go from one lobby to the next after becoming impatient with loading times, thus essentially 'spreading' the memory leak from one lobby to the next."
