Qualcomm Quick Charge up to 40% faster charging

Qualcomm has announced a 'new' technology, which has been implemented in a wide variety of handsets already. It's more of a teaser, as the company indicated that it would introduce a similar technology, or perhaps a successor, at next week's Mobile World Congress.

The technology is called Quick Charge 1.0 and is claimed to improve the charging speed of mobile devices by up to 40 percent. It's an integrated switch which connects to the USB-interface and allows the charging process to be accelerated.

Quick Charge 1.0 is already available on several phones, including HTC's 8X, One S, One VX and One SV. Nokia has implemented the technology in its Lumia 820, 822 and 920 phones. LG's Nexus 4 is also equipped with Quick Charge 1.0.
